Ndileka Mandela is the eldest granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, the first President of the Republic of South Africa and a Nobel Prize winner. She founded the Tembekile Mandela Foundation, named after her father, an international program under the auspices of the United Nations, Leading like Mandela. Her Foundation contributes to the implementation of the sustainable development goals of the UN Agenda 2030, promoting and creating opportunities for the development of youth and women, and improving the quality of life for people in Africa and around the world. The foundation works in three areas: support for women’s entrepreneurship, education and healthcare.
“My grandfather Nelson Mandela believed that health and education were important issues. If you want to change society, then you need to give children the opportunity to get an education. This is the only way to change the world. And in this sense, we are working to find scholarships and grants for our children and youth so that they can get an education. One of the areas of our activity is healthcare, in particular in rural areas, where these opportunities are more limited. We are raising funds to purchase the necessary materials and equipment, ”said the head of the Mandela Foundation at a press conference in the CCS on August 24 this year.
According to Ndileki Mandela, 20% of the African population suffers from cancer. Moreover, 50% of them are fatal. “There are a lot of women with cancer in Africa. The most common are breast and cervical cancers. While breast cancer can still be detected in the early stages, it is more difficult for a woman to notice cancer of the cervical canal. Therefore, most often they apply at the last stages. The high incidence is associated both with living conditions and with the factor that girls are married early – before it is fully developed, ”Mandela said in an interview with Strategy2050.kz.
Within the framework of today’s meeting, a guest from South Africa got acquainted in detail with the activities of HIFU INNOTECH, the CEO of which is the owner of intellectual property for an innovative method of treating cancerous tumors by burning them with ultrasound. General Director of HIFU INNOTECH, as well as General Advisor of the International Project “G-Global” on the implementation of innovations in the healthcare sector Nurlan Khamzabaev. “The uniqueness of the method lies in the fact that the treatment takes place without surgery, without blood, anesthesia, anesthesia, radiation and chemotherapy using ultrasound. It penetrates to a depth of 16 cm under the skin and burns out the tumor with a temperature that reaches 100 degrees. This happens pointwise, without burns to healthy tissues, “Nurlan Khamzabaev said in an interview with Strategy2050.kz.
According to the doctor, after such treatment, the patient can stand on his own feet and go about his business. The number of treatment sessions depends on the size of the tumor, the depth of its location, and the patient’s pain threshold. By the way, as the doctor notes, sessions lasting up to 1 hour are painless.
Khamzabaev noted that the uniqueness of the method lies in the equipment used for the treatment. “This is the first time ultrasound is controllable, I can adjust the depth and temperature of the ultrasound. The patient is conscious, feels only warmth. If there is pain, then I change the parameters. But, as a rule, after 1-2 sessions the painful sensations completely disappear, ”the doctor noted.
The General Director of HIFU INNOTECH noted that this method can be used to treat children from 1 year of age. The method has no side effects, does not affect healthy cells and does not require rehabilitation. “More than 1,000 patients have been cured with this method, in the last stages. Not a single death, not a single case of complications and relapses. The method has been used for 11 years. Over these 11 years, there are already women who have recovered from cancer of the female organs and have given birth to children, as well as many people who survived or lived longer than the prescribed period, ”said Khamzabaev. According to the doctor, this method has already been recognized in many countries, such as Russia, France, Turkey. It is important to note that Nurlan Khamzabaev is the owner of 16 works of authorship on the treatment of oncological diseases, which have no analogues in the whole world.
Khamzabaev added that by the end of the year it is planned to open several centers for the treatment of cancer with ultrasound in the regions of Kazakhstan, especially in those where the work of residents is associated with harmful conditions leading to cancer. “I would be very happy to open such centers in Africa and am ready to advise patients,” said Khamzabaev, General Director of HIFU INNOTECH.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation, the main goal of which is to introduce innovative methods of treating cancer in the health care system of African countries.
At the end of the meeting, Nurlan Khamzabaev was appointed General Adviser of the Tembekile Mandela Foundation for innovation in the field of oncology.
Note that in Kazakhstan, more than 350 thousand people are registered in cancer clinics.
